As the Lead Guidance Counsellor, you will focus primarily on Pou 2 by upholding student wellbeing and belonging, while supporting Pou 1 by removing barriers to achievement, Pou 3 by building strong whānau and community partnerships, and Pou 4 by delivering culturally responsive practices.
About the Role
Located in Te Whare Awhina, our dedicated wellbeing hub, you will lead and manage a team consisting of three Counsellors and one Within-School Social Worker. Your responsibilities will include delivering professional counselling support for students in Years 9–13, coordinating safe responses, and implementing proactive whole-school wellbeing initiatives aligned with our Pou.
We are seeking a registered counsellor (or equivalent) with:
- Proven leadership or senior counselling experience in a secondary school (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of adolescent mental health, resilience, and restorative practices
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Excellent skills in supervision, team development, and community partnerships

Permanent Part Time, Term Time Only Position, starting Monday 26 April 2026
8 Hours per Week (worked as negotiated with the Head of the Technology Department)
In this hands-on role, you will support practical learning in our well-equipped workshop by:
Conducting daily and weekly health and safety checks, with a strong understanding of safe practices and compliance requirements
Performing routine and preventative maintenance, as well as minor repairs on tools and machinery
Managing the inventory of materials, consumables, and stock to ensure smooth operations
Keeping the workshop organised, neat, tidy, and secure at all times
Constructing and fabricating essential resources, including custom jigs, fixtures, storage units, and teaching aids.
The ideal candidate will be practical, safety-focused, organised, and enjoy working in a school environment where their contributions directly support student learning and creativity. Experience in a school workshop, trade, or similar setting is advantageous.

Kapiti College is an Excellent school with a very collegial staff, where collaboration and support define our daily work. Our Science department is strongly led by an experienced HOD and a dedicated team of assistant teachers, providing excellent leadership, resources, and teamwork to foster innovative science education. Kapiti College is seeking a passionate Teacher of Science to join our dynamic and well-resourced Science department.
This is a fixed-term, full-time (1.0 FTE) position for 1 year to cover refreshment leave, starting at the beginning of Term 3, 2026. The primary focus is general Science teaching across year levels, but it would be an advantage (not a requirement) if you could also teach Senior Chemistry. Please clearly state in your application any other curriculum areas you can teach (e.g., other senior sciences, junior Science specialities, or core subjects) that could contribute to a full 1.0 FTE load.
